Vivienne looked beautiful with her old wig:
I just love her, Tae II is such a stunning head mold. This hairdo and the color bring out her features !! And I just absolutely love the quality of the wig. It’s so soft and shiny.
Finally!! I got to sew this weekend. Although not as much as I would’ve liked–between the boyfriend, the season premiere of Breaking Bad, and my social “obligations” I was able to squeeze in about a couple of hours worth of sewing for the Mori Girl event. Not to mention that the deadline to complete the project is quickly approaching.
This is Vivienne’s dress. I have used and edited the pattern I keep going back to from Adams-Harris Pattern Company. I lengthened the blouse so that it would be more of a dress/tunic, shortened the sleeves, added a facing, and am hoping to successfully turn the turtle-neck collar into a shirt collar. And this is exactly where I’m stuck.
With Mori Girl project I have realized one more facet about sewing that I was unaware of as of yet because I was pretty much using other people’s patterns and following their construction instructions. Granted I am using someone else’s pattern here, and due credit is given to Adam’s-Harris Co. for this beautiful blouse that I have made time-and-time-again, but when it comes to changing the pattern is when I started facing the fact that I haven’t the slightest idea about pattern construction.
Thus, I have realized that pattern-making and construction is all about problem solving!! I am going to start looking for sewing classes around me, or a seamstress mentor at the least who can help me with minor problems like these. Fortunately I am a fast learner 🙂
Here are the dress sketches for the Mori project as well as some pictures of the materials I will be using. Enjoy and do share your opinion!!
The sketch on the left is completed, but I’m still trying to come up with ideas on how to layer up Vivienne’s outfit (on the right). Maybe some bloomers? Or maybe a free-flowing skirt beneath the dress?
More importantly, I have no idea how I’m going to make a belt or a headband!!! BUT, where there’s a will, there’s a way!!
I purchased this set of cute fabrics at Hobby Lobby about a month ago, and I feel like a couple of them are perfect for this project. I still have to go shopping for more fabric but one of the yellow fabrics is a good start for Valentine’s dress. The lace in the background is a beautiful lace blouse that I just loved wearing (I LOVE lace), but alas, I’ve gained weight in the last few months so my BJD’s get to wear it now.
I decided to join a sewing event on DoA! Everyone has created such cute outfits for the first round and I really wanted to join in as this is a group of BJD lovers who are also into sewing clothes for their BJDs. The theme for this second round is Mori Girl. I want to sew a cute dress, so I went pinterest-crazy and downloaded all these cute pictures for ideas on what to work on.
Kawaii!! My princesses ♚ would totally rock the Mori Girl style!
